When big players in the market redesign their brand logos, the world takes notice of it. The re-designed logos often depict the changing trends in the design industry and/or the reshaping of the strategy of a company. A lot of them happened in the by-gone year 2015, lets have a look at the 7 most talked off logo changes..

Google-

This is probably the most talked off logo change of 2015. From 1998 to 2015, Google has gone through various small twists and turns here and there, but designers consider this change to be the most significant one. Social media was on fire, on and around 1st September 2015, when Google changed it’s logo.

The colors have been retained but the font and animation has gone through a makeover. Intentionally or coincidentally, the font is sans serif typeface which is a product out of the Google kitchen.

The designers are loving it for the soft colors and beautification of the font. And for the non-designer viewers, undoubtedly the new logo “looks” trendier than the previous one.

Facebook-

Did you notice that Facebook quietly changed its logo? Mark Zuckerberg never felt the need to change it since 2005, but probably he wanted to SILENTLY treat his viewers 10 years later. This modernization of the logo definitely feels more friendly and approachable. Facebook asked Eric Olson, the designer of Klavika, the font used for the original word mark, to design a new typeface. So currently Facebook is using the font which it owns.

Medium-

The designer’s eye will definitely sparkle at this section of the blog. You had always spotted a big bold black and white M on the Medium website. But according to company’s art director, Erich Nagler and designer Karen Jaimes the this logo was “flat, impenetrable, blunt and … not particularly distinctive”. So the two of them brainstormed various options and then came up with a beautiful geometric figure that blends sharp and round edges. It has brighter colors and an impressive combination of shades of green.

Logitech-

They not just changed their logo like others but they also shortened their brand name to - LOGI. Logitech’s always had great products but lacked a design ethos. Logi’s new logo is plump, geometric, and, according to Darrell, CEO of Logitech, “youthful.” Something amazing in the new logo is the detached suspended grin from “g”. The logo is definitely a more bold and friendly one.

Electrolux-

In January 2015, Electrolux unveiled a brand new avatar with an original font that’s unique to Electrolux. The logo does not miss to emphasis on its retained timeless symbol first used in 1962. MaryKay Kopf, Chief Marketing Officer of the Electrolux Group feels that the new logo communicates modern and innovative while maintaining the associations of trust and quality that consumers have come to expect from our brand. The new logo is definitely cleaner and a treat to the contemporary customers.

DKNY-

New York based fashion house DKNY showcased with a sophisticated new logo in the DKNY spring show 2016. They chose Franklin Gothic for the re imagined logo because it is both “bold and American”. Rectangular blocks lie on each side, paying homage to the brand’s New York City roots. A beautiful and sophisticated logo prior to the spring sale!

Lenovo -

In may 2015, Lenovo came up with its new logo designed in a contemporary way. The word LENOVO remains constant but the space behind keeps changing colors commemorated to the need. This dynamic change of background makes the logo fun, energetic and relevant. The color palette used contains soft and sober colours which are soothing to the eye.
